Likoma Island is the largest island that we feature on Lake Malawi, and it is only 17km². So, as one might expect and for that matter, hope for on three tiny islands in the middle of the third largest lake in Africa, there is a limit to the amount one can do. However, this is quite possibly exactly why Likoma, Domwe and Mumbo islands are so appealing. The primary activities, if one can call them that, are total relaxation, unwinding on a deserted island and frequent dips into a crystal clear fresh water of the lake. |

Lake Malawi is reported to have
more species of fish than any other freshwater lake in the world. Of the
more than 600 species, many of which are endemic to the lake, the brilliantly
coloured cichlids are the most abundant. The variety and colour of these
fish are some of the reasons why Lake Malawi is regarded as one of the
finest freshwater dive and snorkel locations on the planet. |
