	Mauritius is the ideal year-round golf destination offering beautiful courses that are comparable with the finest in the world. However, many of the better courses are located at the upmarket hotels and are off limits to anyone but residents and their guests. Courses have been designed with both the novice and more serious golfers in mind and offer varying degrees of difficulty. In addition there is a very enjoyable mashie course at Le Coco Beach for those who wish to play a short round of golf or get a little practice.




	There are two One & Only courses at Le St Géran and Le Touessrok. Le St Géran is a 9-hole, par-33 Gary Player-designed course. This 2312m course meanders through the palm forests and along the beach allowing golfers an opportunity to play the challenging 6th hole against the backdrop of a glittering blue ocean. In addition guests can enjoy some professional lessons from the David Leadbetter academy next to the clubhouse. Le Touessrok is an 18-hole, par-72 Bernhard Langer signature course on Ile aux Cerfs – one of the private islands at Le Touessrok. Designed by IMG and Bernhard Langer, this new course (opened in November 2003) is unique in every way. It is only accessible by a short, scenic five-minute boat trip from the hotel. All eighteen holes offer superb views of the sea and combine excellent sporting conditions with the natural beauty of the location. Emphasis has been laid on the conservation and propagation of endemic and rare species of fauna and flora throughout the island. This course is the first world-class golf facility in Mauritius. Beachcomber Hotels offer their guests ‘Beachcomber Golf World’ which includes: Paradis The 18-hole, par-72 championship course at Paradis is a typical links course designed to challenge the champion and entertain the novice. The course is set against the backdrop of Le Morne, making it among the most spectacular on the island. The superior infrastructure makes the golfing holiday at Paradis very appealing. Facilities include: · A clubhouse with storeroom for guests’ golf equipment · Practice balls, clubs and trolleys are on hire at the clubhouse · Group lessons (twice a week) free of charge for hotel guests · Two fulltime pros to attend to clients’ needs, and for private lessons · Pro-shop · Practice tee and driving range Trou aux Biches The 9-hole, par-32 course at Trou aux Biches is an attractive course and despite being only nine holes is designed to give enjoyment to both experienced and novice golfers. Facilities include: · A clubhouse set in a charming colonial style house · Free group lessons twice a week · Full-time pro and two assistants · Pro-shop selling tees, balls, gloves, polo shirts and shoes Shandrani The challenging 9-hole, par-30 Mashie course at the Shandrani is laid out like a typical links course with ocean views from most holes. Facilities include: · The clubhouse, part of a modern health centre · Practice tee and driving range · Free group lessons twice a week · Full-time pro · Tees, balls, polo shirts and clubs are available from the Beachcomber Boutique in the main hotel Maritim Hotel This 9-hole, par-29 course is open to the public. ‘The Links’, is a dramatic 18-hole course at Belle Mare Plage Hotel.
